Cyprus’s east coast is home to the city of Famagusta, often called Gazimausa. It is renowned for its well-preserved Venetian walls from the 15th and 16th centuries, which are encircled by a ditch that no longer contains any water. The moat’s summit offers expansive views. A statue of a winged lion and an iron door may be found on the Porta Del Mare gate. The enormous, honey-colored Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, which dates to the 14th century, was once a Gothic church.
